Jason was born in San Diego, CA, but grew up in Longmont, CO. Jason graduated from Skyline High School. Shortly thereafter, Jason joined the Colorado Army National Guard. After completing basic and advanced individual training, he enrolled at Western State College in Gunnison, CO, where he graduated with a degree in history and a secondary licensure endorsement. Jason enjoyed skiing and playing rugby; Two hobbies that he would continue to enjoy to this day.
Upon graduation, Jason accepted a student teaching position at Glacier High School in Kalispell, MT, and was there for the full school year. Shortly after completion of his student teaching, Jason was activated to deploy with a Montana National Guard unit out of Miles City, MT.
While in Afghanistan, Jason and his unit performed "route clearance" duties. Those duties included searching for, digging, up and detonating improvised explosive devices. After his return, Jason took a high school social studies position at Harrison High School in Harrison, MT.
After two years, Jason applied for and was accepted into the law school at the University of Montana. There, Jason was the Vice President of the Veteran's Legal Group and worked in the Veteran's Legal Clinic.
Jason graduated in 2018 and was admitted into practice the same year. For 7 years, Jason worked at the Office of the State Public Defender (OPD), where he practiced criminal law. Jason specializes in criminal law and has taken cases ranging from driving with a suspended license to deliberate homicide and rape as well as juvenile and involuntary commitment cases. While at OPD, Jason tried approximately 40 jury trials in several different jurisdictions all while gaining valuable experience in the courtroom.
